Signs You Are Not Getting Enough Sleep



In today’s rushed life, we often sleep late and wake up early to do more work. Here are signs you may be putting your health at risk by not getting enough sleep.

Sleep is important in maintaining proper and healthy body functioning. Contrary to what we are often led to believe, sleep is not a luxury but a necessity in life. In fact for people who have less than 6-7 hours every night, their have more chances of getting sick compared to those who get enough sleep. Diseases associated with lack of sleep are heart attack, stroke, obesity and diabetes. But how do we know that we’re not getting enough shut eye? Here are some signs to look out for:

• Difficulty in getting up in the morning – seriously. Our body is intelligent. It knows when it is not getting enough rest it simply refuses to get up in the morning without a fight.

• Trouble concentrating and remembering – who hasn’t felt that foggy and hazy feeling after pulling an all-nighter? This feeling makes it hard for us to concentrate and remember details. According to research a process called memory consolidation occurs during sleep. The brain processes data and information better when we get enough sleep, increasing understanding of experiences and retention of memories.
